-"G-MASTER Hyper Knuckle"-

-The secret of Kawabata's Silvia 2007 D1 Grand Prix Series Championship-

Dai-"Now, I understand why you could show the unbelievable angle in this season." Kawabata-"Yes, many shops usually modify stock knuckles, but GP Sports made 100% original in 2 pieces style which accomodate adjustable spacers. This miracle knuckle brought me 2007 D1 Grand Prix Championship."

The ultimate steering knuckle for the drifting purpose has been completed by GP Sports after their D1 racing tests in Kawabata's Silvia. It was the secret of Silvia’s unbelievable angle and speed in 2007 D1 races, but it still has more benefits for you!

2007 was the year of knuckle tuning as the advanced modification technology in the Japanese drifting industry, as resumed in the article on November issue of "DRIFT TENGOKU". Normally tuning shops modify stock knuckles into their own original shapes to have maximum steering angle. However, GP Sports has made their original die-cast knuckle, because they couldn't be satisfied with the modified knuckle to realize their ideal drifting style.

Another advantage is the steering angle. Keeping the same length between the spindle and the lower ball joint avoids quick steering, and the shallower angle of the lower ball joint arm keeps the normal tie-rod joint location for maximum steering angle. The maximum steering angle at the right tire was measured as 50 degree, and the actual position on the steering wheel turns about 1/6 of the wheel more than the normal position with stock knuckle.

The most important point of their goals was to raise the roll center, without sacrificing other factors necessary for drifting. With their uniquely designed original knuckle, the front roll center was raised by 20mm(0.8 inch), and can be further raised by maximum 50mm (2 inches) with optional spacers, since their original knuckle is prepared in two-pieces configuration to accommodate optional spaces between the spindle side and the lower ball joint section. But the body height stays low, since its length of the upper ball joint from the spindle is same with the length of the stock knuckle. Accordingly the center of gravity of the whole body stays at the same height, keeping the same stability of the lowered machine.
